Persuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 to 11), I hereby request the following records:
-All contracts and invoices between the village and SafeSpeed LLC, both regarding the erection of the red-light cameras and the operation of the red-light cameras, since August 2011.
-Minutes from meetings of the village trustees that pertain to the red-light cameras and/or SafeSpeed LLC
According to the Village of River Forest's website, there are currently red-light cameras at North Avenue at Harlem (Eastbound on North) and Harlem Avenue at Lake Street (Southbound on Harlem). [https://vrf.us/government/transparency-a-foia]
According to the Chicago Tribune, "The village contracted with Chicago-based company SafeSpeed LLC in late 2011 to install and operate the cameras." [http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/suburbs/oak_park_river_forest_forest_park/ct-tl-river-forest-red-light-camera-20130730,0,7194353.story]
According to the Chicago Tribune, "the village is expected to review all video and photographic evidence of possible violations within 10 days of receiving evidence" [http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-02-27/news/ct-tl-riverforest-red-light-update-20130227_1_red-light-cameras-new-red-light-camera-red-light]
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
