This request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

From: Fields-Bernard, Lea

Good afternoon,

This will confirm receipt of your Public Records Act request dated February 29, 2016, wherein you seek communications related to Corrections Corporation of American including, but not limited to, all communications including/mentioning the @cca.com and @correctionscorp.com domain names, CCA or Corrections Corporation of America.

The California Public Records Act only requires production of "identifiable" public records. California courts have held that a request for public records must be "focused and specific." Rogers v. Superior Court, 10 Cal.App. 4th 1177, 1186 (1992). Your request is not sufficiently specific and fails to set forth identifiable categories of records that can be searched by the City in that you have not provided a time frame. Further a search for the acronym "CCA" will likely return an overwhelming amount of records you do not wish.

We would appreciate it if you would work with us to narrow your request to the actual information you are seeking so that we may be as efficient as possible in our response. We will not be able to respond without further clarification.

Kind regards,
