From: Belle Reve
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Please provide the exact data that was provided to Susie Neilson for her Nov. 4, 2021, column “We obtained never-before-seen data on how Chesa Boudin is prosecuting cases. Here’s what it shows.”
Please provide all “yearly conviction rates for specific crimes” data Neilson refers to here:
“The Chronicle also reviewed yearly conviction rates for specific crimes. The conviction rate refers to the share of cases charged by a D.A. that lead to a conviction, including cases that are resolved ahead of a trial, such as by negotiating a plea deal.”
Please provide all source data for her conclusions here:
“The data shows that homicide conviction rates have increased from 67% of 39 cases during the final two years of Gascón’s leadership to 83% of 42 cases under Boudin.”
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Belle Reve
