Ms. Evans,
Your request for public records below has been received by the San Jose Police Department, forwarded from Tamara Becker, City Manager’s Office.
Clarification is required for this request. Are you seeking details of each report or only the number of related incidents reported? Please be advised that if you are seeking details of each report, a synopsis of the event would be offered and not the actual incident report.

Thank you for providing clarification.
Our Department completes a Hate Crime Incident Report when a hate crime has been identified. The information from these reports is entered directly into a database managed by the Department of Justice. The hard copies of these reports are maintained within the Department’s Crime Analysis Unit (CAU) and can be reviewed to determine which ones are responsive to your request. I have notified CAU to begin this process.
The City of San Jose holiday furlough period begins December 23, 2016 (through January 2, 2017), during which time staff will not be available. I’ll provide an update for this request by December 22, 2016.
