To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, ยง10, I hereby request the following records:

The special tax districts created by the municipality, the stated purpose of the special district, its authorizing document, and its date of passage.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Dear Mary,

Your public records request was received by my office today, March 14, 2017. As the Records Access Officer (RAO) I will be handling your request. I believe the only tax districts in Sandwich are the Sandwich Water District and the North Sagamore Water District. Both are distinct districts within the boundaries of Sandwich that hold taxing authority outside of the Town itself. The purpose of both districts is to provide water to the residents of Sandwich.

The North Sagamore Water District was created by the Massachusetts Legislature on June 15, 1939 and their enabling legislation is Chapter 290 of the Acts of 1939 (http://media.wix.com/ugd/3cea34_e941acb02cc04649806a1632c794c79c.pdf)

The Sandwich Water District was created by the Massachusetts Legislature on April 21, 1947 and their enabling legislation is Chapter 280 of the Acts of 1947 (http://archives.lib.state.ma.us/actsResolves/1947/1947acts0280.pdf)

I believe this to be a full response to your request. Please let me know if you need anything further.

Regards,

Taylor
