(Please note that this point is not a request for the identities of individual permit or license holders, but, rather, is a request for governmental policies and parameters regarding the process and regulations by which one may obtain either a permit or a license. If separate strictures exist for each, provision of both would be greatly appreciated.)

Our Crime Analysis Supervisor advised that the statistical information should be available from the 2015 UCR Report through the link below:

http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/cms/FSAC/UCR/2015/Counties/SantaRosa15.aspx

We do not have any policies or procedures in place regarding this type of information. We check the firearms to make sure they have not been reported as stolen or missing when we get the notices.

We are only allowed to keep the information that is provided to us regarding licenses, acquisitions and transfers etc. as a copy for Local Law Enforcement for a short period of time approximately 20 days and then they must be destroyed. We do not maintain any databases of this information.

You may be able to obtain the information that you are seeking by contacting the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the ATF or the FBI. I am not sure exactly who keeps records of all this information but it is not at the local level.

Please let me know if we can be of any additional assistance with this matter.

Hi,

Sorry, just wanted to ask a few clarifying questions. You said "We check the firearms to make sure they have not been reported as stolen or missing when we get the notices." What firearms? What notices?

You also mentioned that "We are only allowed to keep the information that is provided to us regarding licenses, acquisitions and transfers etc. as a copy for Local Law Enforcement for a short period of time approximately 20 days and then they must be destroyed. We do not maintain any databases of this information." How are you able to check if any firearms that are confiscated by your department are listed as stolen if you don't have a database?

Thanks,
Vanessa

I was referring to the firearms that are listed on the firearms acquisitions, licensure, use and transfer forms required by the ATF to be filled out for these types of occurrences and sent to the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the area, We check the serial numbers and other information on these forms and we verify that these firearms are entered in the national database of items that have been lost or stolen.

We only have records of firearms that are reported as stolen, missing or located within our jurisdiction. We do not maintain a database of who owns what firearms just reports of lost, stolen or missing property which may include firearms. The checks are run through the Florida Clearinghouse and Nationwide Clearinghouse and they maintain these databases of lost, stolen, missing. I hope this explains your questions and if you have any additional questions please let me know
