I am writing to appeal the summary denial of access to records requested under the New York Freedom of Information Law. The original request was submitted on 3/29/2022 and to date, I have not received a response.
The records requested were a catalog of holdings for all school libraries for the year ending 2012, 2019, and 2022, as well as copies of all library material censorship and complaint records from 1/1/2019 to the date the request is fulfilled.
I understand that a denial of access may be warranted under certain circumstances; however, I have not been provided with any reason for the summary denial of my request. As such, I am appealing the denial of access and requesting that the district provide the requested records as soon as possible.
Please note that under the New York Freedom of Information Law, an agency is required to respond to a request within five business days of receipt of the request. As this deadline has passed, I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.
