To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Florida Sunshine Law, I hereby request the following records:
I respectfully request access to the following public records related to the July 19, 2023 incident and arrest of Dylan Lemma, the 19-year-old son of Sheriff Dennis Lemma:
Dash camera footage from the deputy who attempted the traffic stop around 8:00 a.m. near East Lake Drive and Celestial Way, involving a Ford Mustang and a white Nissan, both allegedly racing.
Any available body-worn camera footage from deputies involved in the attempted stop, identification, or follow-up investigation.
According to public reports and agency statements, Dylan Lemma fled at high speed in a Ford Mustang after a Seminole County deputy attempted a traffic stop, and later turned himself in to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on charges of fleeing and reckless driving. The incident has drawn public interest due to the relationship between the suspect and the head of the agency.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.
Sincerely,

To the Seminole County Sheriff's Office Records Section,
Thank you again for your response to Public Records Request #R009498-033025.
I am writing to respectfully request a re-evaluation of the determination that “no records exist” responsive to my original request for dash camera and body-worn camera footage from the July 19, 2023 incident involving Dylan Lemma.
On March 31, 2025, FOX 35 Orlando aired a segment (linked below) that includes what appears to be dash camera footage from a Seminole County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle turning to pursue a fleeing Ford Mustang. This is consistent with the incident and location described in my original request.
Link to video:
https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/florida-sheriffs-son-was-allegedly-racing-with-another-car-before-bolting-from-traffic-stop-affidavit
Given that the footage exists and has been shared publicly, I would greatly appreciate your assistance in clarifying the following:
1. Whether additional footage — including the full dashcam and any body-worn camera footage from deputies involved — is available for release under Florida’s public records law.
2. If the footage was released to media prior to this request, whether a copy of that release or disclosure log can be provided.
3. If the video was filed under a different incident or case number, any guidance on how to amend or narrow the request accordingly.
This request is made in the public interest, to ensure fair and consistent access to public records — particularly in a matter that involves public figures and has drawn community attention.
If any part of the request remains exempt, I would appreciate a citation of the relevant exemption under Florida Statutes, as well as release of any non-exempt portions in accordance with the law.
Thank you for your continued time and assistance. I look forward to your reply.
