Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Any information regarding the total number of active unidentified deceased persons cases ("John Doe" or "Jane Doe" cases) that the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office (https://www.co.siskiyou.ca.us/sheriff/page/coroners-office) is currently responsible for, dating from the earliest possible case on record, to the active case opened the closest of the date that this request is received.

Please conduct the broadest possible search for any information (excel files, PowerPoint Presentations, Word documents, PDFs, email correspondence with the DOJ's NamUs program, CJIS correspondence, NCIC correspondence, etc.) that would help to definitively state the total number of unidentified deceased persons that the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office is responsible for. If the number is zero as of the date that this request is received, then publicly state this.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

The Department is reviewing your request and is seeking responsive records.   The records you have requested require the Department to search for, collect, and examine large amounts of records over a lengthy period of time.  In addition, some of these records requested may be exempt from disclosure under applicable privileges and or disclosure exemptions.  Some of these documents may require legal review and redaction.
