Good afternoon,

Thank you for submitting your FOIA request, Request Number: 695-2020. Following a search for the materials that you have requested, it has been determined that there are over 4,000 pages of documents that relate to your request. To provide this number of pages would be unduly burdensome to the Village as it would take a significant amount of time to read through and make any necessary redactions to each document, email, etc.

This is pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act Section 3(g):

“Requests calling for all records falling within a category shall be complied with unless compliance with the request would be unduly burdensome for the complying public body and there is no way to narrow the request and the burden on the public body outweighs the public interest in the information. Before invoking this exemption, the public body shall extend to the person making the request an opportunity to confer with it in an attempt to reduce the request to manageable proportions. If any public body responds to a categorical request by stating that compliance would unduly burden its operation and the conditions described above are met, it shall do so in writing, specifying the reasons why it would be unduly burdensome and the extent to which compliance will so burden the operations of the public body. Such a response shall be treated as a denial of the request for information.”

To reduce the burden of your request, the Village asks that you please narrow the scope of your request.

Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Best,

Alex Franz

Dear MUCK ROCK NEWS,

Thank you for narrowing your request. Unfortunately, even with your narrowed time frame, your request still totals over 2,000 pages. As a result, I am asking that you narrow your request even further due to the considerable amount of time that it would take to review and redacted each page. Please advise on how you would like to proceed.

Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Best,

Alex Franz
