Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act ("APRA"), I hereby request the following records:
Police activity log 6/27-7/4 for electronic delivery.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Hello,
Your request has been received.
The records will not be delivered electronically. They will be printed and
mailed. We will require a mailing address.
The records you request (8 days of police log) are extensive and will take
quite a bit of time to prepare. It will require the 10 business days
allotted to prepare the records and mail them out.
The records will not be provided free of charge. The estimated cost is
between $40 and $45 for what you are requesting.

We can change the date to 6/30-7/3 that should suffice for our needs.
We may just have them picked up and drop off payment.
Please let me know when the documents are ready and their final cost and at that point we will either provide a mailing address/send payment or we will arrange for a local pickup with payment to be made at the station..
Please let me know if those two options are available to us.

The records you requested (police activity log 6/30/17 thru 7/3/17) have
been prepared.
The cost for the 56 pages of printed material is $8.40.
The cost for the materials to be mailed would be $11.48.
Although the research and preparation took more than an hour, we will not be
charging you for the additional time spent on this request.
Thus, records picked up here at the Smithfield Police Department will be
$8.40 cash or check. Hours are 8am - 4pm Monday thru Friday.
If you request that the records be mailed, the cost will be $11.48. Records
will be sent once a check for that amount is received.
Please advise how you want to handle. Thank you.
