The City is required by law to respond to requests for public records within five business days; this response complies with that requirement coming on the fourth business day. Under the Washington Public Record Act, RCW 42.56, governmental entities are generally required to provide public records upon request.  However, under RCW 42.56 there are a number of exemptions to the general rule as well as other exemptions that have been recognized by the Washington Appellate Courts.  Please note, the City of Spokane Valley contracts for police services; therefore, we do not have police records. Please contact Spokane County for police records. For your convenience, I have included their contact information below. Because you have requested "communications," I have asked that our IT department conduct a search of emails in case we were notified of any activities at the property location by law enforcement. Once the emails are gathered, they will be reviewed to determine if any exemptions to disclosure apply, and then any responsive emails will be provided to you.
