Pursuant to the Tennessee Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

News stories show that numbers and letters are reversed on Tennessee License plates that show "In God We Trust":

Therefore, I request the following:

- Statistics about the number of license plates issued with "In God We Trust" vs without, starting from 2017 until the time this request is processed
- Presentations, emails (including attachments), memos, charts, internal reasoning or other messages about the numbering convention. Search from 2017 until the time this request is processed.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security is not the appropriate governmental entity to request these records as it is not involved with issuance or design of license plates, and therefore is not the custodian of the records. Further, this Department is not required to make a record to fulfil your request. See Tenn. Code Ann. ยง 10-7-503. Please make your records request to the Department of Revenue.
