To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

I am requesting all available records related to the arrest of Michael Anthony Montoya Jr., a 35-year-old male from San Juan, Texas, who was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety on or about March 17, 2025, in Cameron County, Texas.

According to media reports, DPS attempted to stop a black 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee on SH 4 in Brownsville. The driver allegedly refused to stop, leading to a chase and crash at an intersection. Troopers then reportedly located eight plastic-wrapped bundles of marijuana in the vehicle's cargo area. The bundles weighed an estimated 200 pounds.

Montoya was charged with evading arrest and felony possession of marijuana. He was booked into the Cameron County Jail.

I am requesting the following records:

Arrest and offense reports

911 call audio or dispatch communications

Booking and intake records

Any supplemental or investigative reports related to the arrest

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.
