From: Robert Delaware
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Any information regarding the total number of active unidentified deceased persons cases ("John Doe" or "Jane Doe" cases) that the Tuolumne County Coroner's Office (https://www.tuolumnecounty.ca.gov/344/CivilCoronerRecords-Section) is currently responsible for, dating from the earliest possible case on record, to the active case opened the closest of the date that this request is received.
Please conduct the broadest possible search for any information (excel files, PowerPoint Presentations, Word documents, PDFs, email correspondence with the DOJ's NamUs program, CJIS correspondence, NCIC correspondence, etc.) that would help to definitively state the total number of unidentified deceased persons that the Tuolumne County Coroner's Office is responsible for.
I research missing and unidentified person cases as a hobby, and I am curious as to why Merced, Fresno, Mariposa, Stanislaus, and other California counties report unidentified person cases yet Tuolumne does not. I am curious to know how many (total number) and the circumstances of any cases in Tuolumne County - if they exist.
Thank you for the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office for their commitment to transparency.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Robert Delaware
