NARA), we are forwarding it by this email to our Office of Research
Services, Textual Reference (RR2RR) staff who handle FOIA requests for
textual archival records.

That office will assign your request a tracking number and respond directly

From: National Archives and Records Administration

Dear Mr. Meadors,

This is in response to your Freedom of Information Act request dated
November 29, 2024 for records relating to the document “Memorandum for the
Deputy Secretary of Defense from Assistant Secretary of Defense
(Administration), subject: ‘Review of Communications In Crisis Situations,’
November 10, 1967.” Your request was received in this office, Archives II
Textual Reference, on the date of December 2, 2024 and assigned FOIA case
number 25-12615.

We searched the series Action Files on Improving Communication with the
Public, 1966–1967 <https://catalog.archives.gov/id/17618374> (Record Group
330, Entry UD-UP 350, Box 1), but we were unable to locate responsive
records. We also conducted a cursory search of the series Annual Reports,
Memoranda, and Correspondence, 1964–ca. 1971
<https://catalog.archives.gov/id/17618412> (Record Group 330, Entry UD-UP
446, Boxes 1-4), but we were unable to locate responsive records.

We located the Authority Record for the Department of Defense. Office of
the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Administration). (07/01/1964 -
11/03/1971) <https://catalog.archives.gov/id/10547622> and found 25 series
<https://catalog.archives.gov/search?q=record.creators.naId:10509764>associated
with this authority record that could contain a copy of this memorandum.

If we have any information relating to your requested memorandum within our
records holdings, the information is dispersed among the records and
finding it will require a more detailed search than we are staffed to
provide. We make reasonable efforts to assist researchers with their work.
As a matter of policy, the National Archives is staffed to assist
researchers to include, but not limited to, pointing researchers to helpful
Finding Aids to begin their research. However, given the limitations on
staff resources, we do not generally conduct substantive research in
response to requests filed under the Freedom of Information Act, except in
circumstances where documents can be easily located.

If you have questions regarding the publicly available records recommended
above, you may contact us at archives2reference@nara.gov. We hope you find
this information useful in conducting your research.

This concludes the processing of your request. We do not consider this a
denial of your FOIA request. If you are not satisfied with our action on
this request, your options for appeal and dispute resolution are attached.

Sincerely,
