APP2009001258 Jacobs' appeal (USCIS)

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

A copy of Ms. Jacob's initial request, her appeal, and all other records on, about, mentioning, or concerning the appeal made by Sally Jacobs which was assigned file number APP2009001258. This request is being sent to both DHS and USCIS, as I suspect both have responsive records.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

It was dated July 26, 2011 and signed by Patricia Keltner.

I do not understand this response. It contains two different case numbers: APP2009001258 and APP2011000642.

Furthermore, I've never asked the FOIA office to reopen an immigration case, which your letter alleges. Please provide me a copy of the appeal you are responding to so I may better understand your response.

The above request was sent on July 19, 2011. This was a new FOIA request, not an appeal. The FOIA request for seeking all records concerning a previous appeal.

I assume this letter was sent to me in error. Please clarify. Furthermore, please provide me with the status of my request for records concerning APP2009001258.
