Dear Mr. Schiano,

Before I can process your request I need you to clarify what records are you seeking and from what office to conduct a search. Are you asking for records from a particular person on a National Forest? This would make it easier to search, reduce search fees, and we would be able to get you a response fairly quickly. If you are asking for every employee to search for records pertaining to Mountain Valley Pipeline LLC then I am afraid that will be very broad and burdensome to conduct such a wide records search and cost a lot of taxpayers money since you are requesting fees to be waived for you records search. Might I suggest for you to narrow your search to an employee that has the records you are requesting or at least narrow this down to the forest that the records may be found.

Please provide me clarification of what records you are seeking so I can start a reasonable records search or refer this to the proper office. At this time I have placed your case on hold, if I do not receive clarification from you by 29 May 2018 then I will consider this case closed and administratively close this request. If at a later date you would like to request these records again you would have to submit a new FOIA request and clarify the records you are requesting.

I am the technician assigned to your case, if you have any questions please feel free to email.

From: Christopher Schiano

Mr. Starry,

I am seeking any records meeting those descriptors which would have been sent or received by any Forest Service law enforcement personnel deployed in Jefferson National Forest regarding the area where the pipeline protest monopod is currently blocking Pocahontas Road. If I need to clarify or narrow this request more specifically than that, please let me know.

Thank you for your prompt acknowledgement of my FOIA request.

sincerely,
Christopher Schiano
