Mr. Joe Meadors

Dear Mr. Meadors:
This is in response to your July 1, 2017, Freedom of Information Act
request (RD53574) related to the Navy Deck Logs of the USNS *Core*
(T-AKV-41) for the dates of June 7 – 9, 1972. We have located the records
relevant to your request.
After a brief search of the Deck Logs during the requested dates, the ship
was underway from San Francisco, CA to Vung Tau, Viet Nam (arrived on June
14) and attached is a complimentary scan as a pdf of the requested dates.
For future reference, by providing us with the following information, we
can conduct a records review search on your behalf and provide up to 20
complimentary copies. Please include:
- The name of the Ship or Ships involved in the incident.
- A description of your researched incident(s) and the name of any
individuals involved.
- The date or the date range in which the incident occurred not to
exceed three months.
Otherwise, we can provide reproductions (copies) of the above documents.
Our current fee for electrostatic (paper) or digital (on CD-R) copies is
$0.80 per page with a minimum mail order fee of $20.00. Allow 30-60 days
for delivery. Please do not send a check or money order until you have
received a price quote. Also, be aware that these Deck Logs average 65
pages a month, multiplied by $0.80 per page, would cost $52.00 per month.
Most Deck Logs are declassified and available to the public. Please write
to our section directly archives2reference@nara.gov as writing to the FOIA
office will cause a delay in our response.
We do not consider this response a denial under the Freedom of Information
Act (FOIA). Please see the attached page on appeal and dispute resolution
options and refer to our case number: RD53574.
