From: National Archives and Records Administration

Dear Joe Meadors,

This is in response to your Freedom of Information Act request dated
November 5, 2024 for records relating to depositions provided to an
investigating committee by Captain Spector and any other individuals and
any reports prepared by the investigating committee relating to an incident
involving the USS Liberty that occurred on the approximate dates of June
1967. Your request was received in this office, A2 Textual Reference, on
the date of November 12, 2024 and assigned FOIA case number 25-07917.

We have conducted a records review within Record Group 38: Records of the
Chief of Naval Operations for records relating to incidents involving USS
Liberty on the approximate dates of June 1967, for committee investigations
relating to the USS Liberty, and for depositions provided to committees
relating to the USS Liberty regarding incidents that occurred on the
approximate dates of June 1967. During our review we were unable to locate
records relevant to your research. Typically, to locate relevant records we
will need to know additional information such as the name of the committee,
who the committee was organized under, the mission or task for which the
committee has been organized, the dates for when the committee convened,
and the dates for when the committee concluded. This information can assist
us with identifying the Record Group and record series in which relevant
records are held. Terms such as an "investigating committee" are not
reasonably specific enough for us to conduct successful records reviews. We
did locate the U.S. Navy Deck Logs for the USS Liberty for June 1967. These
records are digitized and available on our online Catalog. We have provided
the links to the Deck Logs for USS Liberty for the year 1967 below:
