This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records related to sea mammals and the Navy Marine Mammal Program (or any other title the program has operated under since its inception):

-Any reports or memos generated between 1955 and 1965 regarding the establishment of the program
-any remaining documents pertaining to research performed at the Naval Ordnance Test Station at Pt. Mugu, California
-Proposals and reports related to dolphin and/or sea lion mine-detection training
-Any documents related to dolphins and Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam
-Any reports generated between 2008 and 2014 that discuss ending the Marine Mammal Program

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

This is a final response to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request below in which you requested "Any reports or memos generated between 1955 and 1965 regarding the establishment of the program -any remaining documents pertaining to research performed at the Naval Ordnance Test Station at Pt. Mugu, California -Proposals and reports related to dolphin and/or sea lion mine-detection training -Any documents related to dolphins and Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam -Any reports generated between 2008 and 2014 that discuss ending the Marine Mammal Program."

Please be advised that a check of records located in our Systems Center, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Pacific (SSC PAC) found that there are no source documents responsive to that part of your request for "Any reports or memos generated between 1955 and
1965 regarding the establishment of the program -any remaining documents pertaining to research performed at the Naval Ordnance Test Station at Pt. Mugu, California -Proposals and reports related to dolphin and/or sea lion minedetection training -Any documents related to dolphins and Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam". All of the information concerning this subject is available in the public domain in the form of technical reports and other published material.

The marine mammal annotated bibliography located at http://nmmf.org/resources/marine-mammal-annotated-bibliography/ for technical publications covering the period requested. And the two published works covering that period: Marine Mammals and Man, The Navy's Porpoises and Sea Lions, Forrest G. Wood; and Defender Dolphins, The Story of Project Short Time, Harold W. Goforth, Jr.

Regarding your request for "Any reports generated between 2008 and 2014 that discuss ending the Marine Mammal Program", there are no documents responsive to this request, as there were no Navy discussions regarding ending the Marine Mammal Program .

There are no fees associated with the processing of your request by this Command at this time.
