From: Robert Skvarla, Jr.
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. subsection 552, I hereby request the following records:
All records relating to the Altamont Free Concert, its promoter Young American Enterprises, and its co-organizer John Clifford Ellsworth (also known as John Jaymes and John James). The concert was held on Saturday, December 6, 1969, at Altamont Speedway, in Tracy, California.
I am a member of the news media, and I am asking you waive any fees associated with this request. I have previously written for Philly Voice and Atlas Obscura. Please take note of the Office of Management and Budget guidelines published March 27, 1987 (52 FR 10012) that include electronic publications and other nontraditional publishers as representatives of the news media.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.
I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Robert Skvarla, Jr.
