To begin with, I suppose we could eliminate pages from before 1947.
From: Bronson, Rebecca (RMD) (FBI)
Hi Mike,
I checked the file and eliminating anything before 1947 only takes us down 360 pages. Did you want to narrow the date a bit more? Or are you looking for anything specific?
Best,
Becki

From: Michael Best
Can you check the most recent dates in the file? My initial understanding was that the file only went up to the 1980s, but if it went beyond that then I'll consider altering the scope to focus on either newer or older materials.
Are there any possibilities for trimming the file that jump out at you based on looking at it? Sometimes it's hard to figure out what can be culled without knowing what's there, so I'm definitely open to suggestions.
Thanks again for all of your help with yet another FOIA, and I hope your holidays have been nice so far. Since we might not email again tomorrow before the next holiday, have a happy New Year!
Mike

An interim response, stating the request is being processed.
From: Bronson, Rebecca (RMD) (FBI)
Hi Mike,
The last two documents in the file are dated 1980 and 1996. The 1996 document is just a destruction memo, though, so is only administrative in nature.
Hope this is helpful.

I suppose another thing I should consider is whether or not any of the file has been previously processed. If so, we could probably save review time etc. by using those portions of the file.
Thanks again for your help in figuring this out. =)
From: Bronson, Rebecca (RMD) (FBI)
Hi Mike,
Any time – we hope to streamline the process for everyone. ☺
As it happens, only a few pages from this file have been released. Originally there were 12 pages, but I looked at them and one document is a duplicate, so that brings it down to 10. All of the pages deal with records retention/destruction. There were five memos released, with dates of 10/1950; 5/1958; 9/1959; 4/1973; and 10/1978.
Hope this is helpful.
Best,
Becki

Hi Mike,
Just wanted to give you a heads up that when I did the pagination for this, 500 pages put us in the middle of a document. We process at the document/serial level, so I walked to back to the beginning of the next document. You’ll have 499 reviewed pages.

Becki
