This is to acknowledge your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request submitted electronically to the U.S. Department of Labor via: FOIARequests@dol.gov<mailto:FOIARequests@dol.gov>. Your request was assigned/received by the Women's Bureau (WB) - an agency component of the Department of Labor - on October 4, 2018, for processing under FOIA Tracking #867705. In your request, you asked for the following:
· A copy of the Department of Labor's (and all other sub-agencies and offices) FOIA request logs for FY 2017. These logs should include a request date, description of records requested, requester organization (if applicable) and current status of the requests.
Please note that the FOIA applies to existing records and does not require agencies to conduct research, or generate documents based on research. The FOIA requires that agencies generally disclose responsive records unless agencies are required to withhold requested records, either in whole or in part, due to one or more of the nine established exemptions. Pursuant to 29 CFR §70.19(e), you may be responsible for certain fees associated with gathering the information you have requested.

I wanted to follow up on the following Freedom of Information Act request, copied below, and originally submitted on Aug. 20, 2018. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response. You had assigned it reference number #SOL-FOIA-F2018-867705.

This is in follow-up to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request submitted electronically to the U.S. Department of Labor at: FOIARequests@dol.gov<mailto:FOIARequests@dol.gov>. Your request was assigned to the Women’s Bureau (WB) – an agency component of the Department of Labor – for processing/acknowledgement under tracking #867705. In your request, you asked for the following:
o A copy of the Department of Labor's (and all other sub-agencies and offices) FOIA request logs for FY 2017. These logs should include a request date, description of records requested, requester organization (if applicable) and current status of the requests.
In accordance with subsequent guidance received by this component, the understanding was that the department would be processing a final consolidated response to include various USDOL agency components or sub-agencies/offices.
As it appears that you may not have received a departmental consolidated response which includes this agency component pursuant to your request for FY’2017 FOIA log records, the Women’s Bureau has completed a search of its files and is providing the attached WB FY’2017 FOIA Log, including request date, description of records requested, requester organization (if applicable), and current status of the requests.
Should you need any further assistance or wish to discuss any aspect of your request, you may contact Cheryl Edwards, WB FOIA Coordinator/FOIA Service Center Administrator via email at: Womens.Bureau@DOL.GOV<mailto:Womens.Bureau@DOL.GOV>, or by phone at 202-693-6735. Alternatively, you may contact DOL’s FOIA Public Liaison, Thomas Hicks, at 202-693-5427; or the Office of Government Information Services National Archives and Records Administration (OGIS) to inquire about mediation services they offer. The contact information for OGIS is as follows: Office of Government Information Services, National Archives and Records Administration, 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD 20740-6001. If you are not satisfied with the response to this request, you may administratively appeal by writing to the Solicitor of Labor within 90 days from the date of this letter. The appeal must state in writing the grounds for the appeal, and it may include any supporting statements or arguments, but such statements are not required. In order to facilitate processing of the appeal, please include your mailing address and daytime telephone number, as well as a copy of the initial request and copy of this letter. The envelope and letter of the appeal should be clearly marked “Freedom of Information Act Appeal.” Any amendment to the appeal must be made in writing and received prior to a decision. The appeal should be addressed to the Solicitor of Labor, Division of Management and Administrative Legal Services, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW, Room N2420, Washington, DC 20210. Appeals may also be submitted by email to foiaappeal@dol.gov<mailto:foiaappeal@dol.gov>. Appeals submitted to any other email address will not be accepted.
