- Records concerning searches of individuals' electronic devices at the nation's borders, for example by CBP or ICE, and specifically:

1. the number of searches of devices in each of the years between 2010 and 2017 inclusive;
2. the number of "detentions" of devices in each of the years between 2010 and 2017 inclusive;
3. the number of "seizures" of devices of devices in each of the years between 2010 and 2017 inclusive;
4. the number of "retentions" of devices in each of the years between 2010 and 2017 inclusive;
5. the number of "inspections" of devices in each of the years between 2010 and 2017 inclusive;
6. the number of times CBP officials requested device passwords from individuals entering the USA, in each of the years between 2010 and 2017 inclusive;
7. the number of times CBP officials requested social media passwords from individuals entering the USA, in each of the years between 2010 and 2017 inclusive;
8. the number of times CBP officials requested email passwords from individuals entering the USA, in each of the years between 2010 and 2017 inclusive.

- Records of revisions to publicly-reported estimates of any of the above or similar numbers.

- Records pertaining to any "upgrades" or other changes to IT systems resulting in a revision of the estimates of any of the above or similar numbers.

- Records pertaining to any "anomaly" in a "system upgrade" during February 2017.

- Transcripts of all communication between CBP spokesperson Jennifer Evanitsky and The Guardian newspaper during February 2017, March 2017, and April 2017.

You may limit your search to records created between 08/26/2009 and the date this request is processed.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. The availability of these records is necessary for the public to fully understand the government's policies and practices relating to searches of electronic devices at the border.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
