Hacking Team was hacked, Hacking Team's files were released, and Hacking Team's emails were republished.

From: Office of the Director of National Intelligence

Ms. Best,

See imbedded comments -

Records relating to or mentioning Hacking Team (what/who is Hacking Team), including communications (i.e. emails, memos, letters, etc.) to or from the organization (who is "the organization"?), contracts, bids and invoices to or from the organization (who is "the organization"?), as well as any records relating to the 2015 hack of the organization (who is "the organization"?), the subsequent release of their files (whose files?) and the republication of their emails (whose emails) on the WikiLeaks website.
We don't make assumptions and need you to be more specific so that we can conduct appropriate searches to locate any responsive material.

Thank you,
Sally Nicholson

You're replying to and quoting an email in which I explicitly clarify those things. The answer to each question is "Hacking Team." It is a company, or as you say, an organization. It is well known. It has a Wikipedia entry. It has an Intellipedia entry, if I'm not mistaken.

From: Office of the Director of National Intelligence

Ms. Best,

Although your request is clear to you, it is not clear to the DNI FOIA branch. The FOIA does not require agencies to conduct research on Wikipedia, Intellipedia, or any other websites external to the agency to determine what it is you are asking for.

We did not call "Hacking Team" an organization. That was a quote from your original email. Once again we will copy your text here and will ask again for clarification. Please note that our records are not centrally located and in order to conduct a "reasonable" search for records responsive to your request, it is incumbent on you to describe the records you seek. You state below that it is a company. When asked who "the organization" is, you state that the answer to all of our questions is "Hacking Team". If that is your response, what is meant by ............ "records relating to the 2015 hack of the organization", which would equate to "records relating to the 2015 hack of the "Hacking Team".

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Records relating to or mentioning Hacking Team, including communications (i.e. emails, memos, letters, etc.) to or from the organization, contracts, bids and invoices to or from the organization, as well as any records relating to the 2015 hack of the organization, the subsequent release of their files and the republication of their emails on the WikiLeaks website.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
Thank you,
