Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
The NDC Directory does not include products which are no longer being marketed.
This makes it different to do historic analyses, as it's not possible to refer to products that are no longer available.
Please supply a full dataset of all NDC records going back to 2009, when I believe the data starts, or if easier, a dataset of just records that have expired before the current date.
The format should be as files corresponding with the zipfile currently available at available at https://www.fda.gov/drugs/development-approval-process-drugs/national-drug-code-database-background-information, which contains tab-separated files 'package.txt' and 'product.txt', or the nearest you have to this format.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
