A fix is required to perfect the request.
From: Jordan Lassiter
Dear Mr. Seidel,
I am writing in response to your letter dated September 2024, regarding my FOIPA request (Request No. 1585200.000) concerning Junaid Hussain.
Please be advised that I am still interested in having the documents processed and released.
Furthermore, I would like to point out that according to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. § 552(a)(6)(A), federal agencies are required to make a determination on a request within 20 working days. The requirement for agencies to confirm whether a requester is still interested after a prolonged delay is not supported by FOIA. In fact, this practice can be seen as an attempt to avoid statutory obligations and unnecessarily delay the processing of requests, which is inconsistent with the law.
Additionally, per 5 U.S.C. § 552(a)(6)(C)(i), if an agency fails to comply with these statutory time limits, the requester is deemed to have exhausted administrative remedies and may pursue legal action to compel the release of records. Given that the time limits have long passed, I expect the FBI to fulfill its legal obligations and process the request without further delay.
Please continue processing my request as required by law. Should there be any steps I can take to assist, feel free to reach out to me directly.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Jordan Lassiter
