Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Any records pertaining to the importation of Mitragyna speciosa (also known as "Kratom") into the United States beginning on or around January 1st, 1974 and ending on or around December 31st, 1979.
Any records and/or evidence indicating that Mitragyna speciosa was part of the United States food supply at anytime beginning on or around January 1st, 1974 and ending on or around December 31st, 1979.
Any records and/or evidence that Mitragyna speciosa was made available for purchase within the United States at anytime beginning on or around January 1st, 1974 and ending on or around December 31st, 1979.
Mitragyna speciosa and extracts of its leaf are collectively referred to as kratom or by other synonyms and pseudonyms, including Nauclea speciosa, purik, biak-biak, biak, cratom, gratom, kakuam, katawn, kedemba, ketum, krathom, krton, mambog, madat, maeng da, mitragynine, Mitragyna javanica, thang, ithang, and thom.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
