Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
The FBI files and any public and/or is declassified files on Lerone Bennett Jr., the African-American historian, journalist and author. He was the Executive Editor of Ebony magazine from 1958 - 2005. He is known for his analysis of race relations in the United States. His best-known works include ‘Before the Mayflower’ (1962) and ‘Forced into Glory’ (2000), a book about President Abraham Lincoln. Deceased 2018.
Date range of request: 1945 - 1975.
In addition to the unclassified files on Mr. Bennett, I am also interested photos, correspondence, surveillance, audio recordings, video, meeting notes, etc.
Requesting information on behalf of One Story Up Productions LLC, with the intention of using the files as research for a documentary film.
