This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
Records relating to Lt. Col. Lucien Emile Conein (born 29 November 1919, Paris, France – died 3 June 1998, Bethesda, Maryland). He was a noted U.S. Army officer and OSS/CIA operative involved in November 1963 coup against Ngô Đình Diệm that resulted in Diệm's assassination. He also worked at the Drug Enforcement Administration, where he directed an intelligence-gathering and operations unit until his civilian retirement in 1984. He was investigated by Senator Lowell Weicker for plotting to assassinate drug lords. His death has been widely reported. http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/conein.htm
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. These materials will be made publicly and freely available in a variety of formats on the Internet Archive's National Security collection.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
