FOIA NUMBER: FOIA 17-HQ-F-00109
I am appealing the integrity of the search as there was no search preformed. My request was denied due to NASA officer stating "it is unclear what records are requested". I think I made it very clear what records I am requesting. If you would like a date range I can provide one by stating January 1st 2008 to October 28th 2016.
I said what record I am seeking: "emails". Furthermore, I specified what email addresses I seek correspondence from. If there are >1,000 emails I would understand if a FOIA officer wanted to clarify the request, but no search was preformed for me to know that I need to narrow my request. I submitted a similar request with DOJ and they were able to fulfill it.
The request was narrow enough to preform a search. The record I was seeking "emails" between just two different individuals who were specified in the request.
Somewhat related to denial:
In my request I did not say how much I am willing to pay. I am willing to pay up to $50 before you notify me of any further charges. Also, my address was asked for again (when already provided) and my address is even in the header of the DENIAL LETTER.
