Dear Mr. Salazar,

This email confirms receipt of your attached FOIA request. Your requested was received on March 27, 2019 and assigned tracking number 2019-AMS-00115-F. Please reference this number in any future communications with our office regarding your request.

Pursuant to the FOIA, 5 U.S.C. ยง 552(a)(6)(A)(i), AMS has 20 business days upon receipt of your request to make a determination. In unusual circumstances, such as the agency's backlog, the need to examine a voluminous amount of records required by the request, or the need to consult with another agency, AMS can extend the 20-day time limit for processing a request. AMS generally processes FOIA requests on a "first-in/first-out" basis. However, the actual processing time will depend upon the complexity of your request, including whether it involves sensitive or voluminous records, business submitter records, extensive searches, and/or multiple consultations both within and outside of the Agency.

We will comply with your request to the fullest extent permissible by law. Any records not subject to an exemption will be forwarded to you promptly upon completion of AMS' search and review process.

If you have any questions regarding the status of your request, please contact Jewell Little at 202-572-5441 or by email at jewell.little@usda.gov<mailto:jewell.little@usda.gov>.

Dear Mr. Salazar,

In conversing with the program office that maintains the records responsive to your above referenced request, it has been determined that the number of records is voluminous. As such, it is taking a much longer time to complete their processing than expected. A very large number of these records are news aggregates which contain a lot of duplicative material that is a compilation of information that is publicly available. If you would agree to exclude this type of record from the record set, we would be able to make a much quicker response to your request.

Please reply letting us know if we can exclude the news aggregates from the records that are responsive to your request. Once we hear from you, we should have a better idea of when we expect to make a response.

Thank you,
Jewell Little

From: Cristian Salazar

Sincerely,
Cristian Salazar
