Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) and the U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR) announced Friday, January 24, 2025 that the organization has put staff in those offices engaged in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work have been put on administrative leave and all DEI-related work has concluded: https://news.ucar.edu/133008/ucar-nsf-ncar-close-dei-offices
Therefore, I request the following documents:
1) Internal communications between the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS), NSF Office of the Inspector General, and NSF NCAR staff regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) including but not limited to (emails, memos, directives, newsletters, Microsoft Teams chats, Google chats, Zoom video and call transcriptions, and policy documents)
2) Internal communications between the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS), NSF Office of the Inspector General, and NSF NCAR staff regarding work from home policies and return to office mandates but not limited to (emails, memos, directives, newsletters, Microsoft Teams chats, Google chats, Zoom video and call transcriptions, and policy documents)
3) Any communications from the U.S. National Science Foundation Office of Inspector General and the NSF Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS), Directorate for Geosciences (GEO) Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS) Anne Johansen to NCAR relating to DEI initiatives to UCAR/NCAR staff
4) Any communications from the U.S. National Science Foundation Office of Inspector General and the NSF Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS), Directorate for Geosciences (GEO) Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS) Anne Johansen to NCAR relating to work from home policies and return to office mandates
5) Any communications between UCAR and NCAR from the U.S. National Science Foundation Office of Inspector General and the NSF Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS), Directorate for Geosciences (GEO) Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS) Anne Johansen to UCAR/NCAR staff relating to Work from Home policies (WFH) and Return to Office Mandates (RTO)
6) A list of NCAR/UCAR staff in DEI-designated offices, descriptions of projects each worked on during their tenure, and remote, hybrid, or in-person work schedules
This request is limited to records generated on or after January 1, 2021.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
