To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

On July 30, 2021, an outdoor worker employed by Earthbalance Corp. collapsed while clearing brush in Apalachicola National Forest in North Point, Sarasota County County, Florida. He was rushed to a ranger station 14 miles away, where he succumbed to heat-related illness and died. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration later fined the employer for this worker's heat-related death, finding the conditions of employment violated federal workplace safety standards: https://www.osha.gov/news/newsreleases/region4/01192022.

I am writing to request an incident report, email communication, or notification records for the National Park Service station near the Forest site where the worker died. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/florida/recarea/?recid=83574. The supervisor's headquarters is at 325 John Knox Rd, Tallahassee, Fl. The lat/long for the forest is Latitude : 30.143185 Longitude : -84.668872.
Requestor Information:

I make this request on behalf of Jeremy Young, producer with Al Jazeera English News, and MuckRock News, who are journalists primarily engaged in the dissemination of information and will make this information freely available to the public. We respectfully seek a fee waiver for this request. In addition, because this request forms part of the reporting on the increasingly deadly legal landscape surrounding heat related deaths of outdoor workers, and an urgent need to inform the public of the consequences of state-level legislation shortening or eliminating water and rest break periods for outdoor workers, we respectfully request expedited processing and I certify that the foregoing statements are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and understanding pursuant to 28 USC 1746.
