NRO manned platforms

I am seeking information relating to any manned reconnaissance platforms operated by or proposed for use by NRO (possibly in conjunction with other agencies) during the period 1970-1991. This includes prototypes, unbuilt designs and vehicle concepts.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I am following up a request for greater specificity in a request filed 10/27/15 (Subject: F16-0006). The original request was for: "information related to any
manned reconnaissance platforms operated by or proposed for use by NRO
(possibly in conjunction with other agencies) during the period 1970-1991.".

More specifically I am looking for project/program overviews or proposals describing manned aircraft or trans-atmospheric vehicles proposed for or actually operated by NRO (possibly in conjunction with other agencies) during the period 1970-1991, excluding the U-2/TR-1 and the A-12/SR-71. This may include proposals for platforms which weren't put into production, including design studies, prototypes or technology demonstrators.

Dear Mr. McMillan,

This is in response to your request dated 27 October 2015, received in the
National Reconnaissance Office on 27 October 2015. Pursuant to the Freedom
of Information Act (FOIA), you are requesting a "information related to any
manned reconnaissance platforms operated by or proposed for use by NRO
(possibly in conjunction with other agencies) during the period 1970-1991."

Our initial search resulted in an excessively large number of potentially
responsive documents. Due to the overly burdensome nature of the results to
your original request, we will be unable to proceed without greater
specificity as to the records you are seeking. Should you wish to limit
the search criteria with regard to subject, context, dates, or other
pertinent details to enable a reasonable search, we will be glad to move
forward. If we have not heard from you by 16 November, we will close this
case with no further action taken.
