To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

On 2/14/15, the official NSA Twttier feed wrote: "Roses are red, violets are blue, #NSA loves privacy rights and you. Learn more from NSA's #CLPO Director http://bit.ly/1CgYRGH #vday2015"

This is a Freedom of Information Act request for a copy of all memos, discussions, etc. about NSA social media strategies, including twitter and Facebook. In addition to the records about general policy, I also request all specific records discussing or directing the tweets sent on 2/14/15 from the Twttier account "@NSA_PAO".

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Jason Smathers

Dear Mr. Smathers,

This responds to your recent request for a status update for case 80416. Your case is in one of our initial processing queues pending assignment to a Case Office for further evaluation and/or document search if applicable. This means we still need to search for documents, after it's assigned to a Case Officer. Due to the significant increase in FOIA requests, it is difficult estimate the completion date at this time. However, we can estimate that your case may be assigned to a Case Officer within the next 12-18 months. Estimating an actual completion date for your case is also difficult, as it is entirely dependent on whether or not document are located, how many documents are found, and the complexity of any document located. The average completion date for those cases in the median range is 3-4 years. Please be advised that this estimate is subject to change.

Thank you for your patience,

Dear Jason Smathers,

This letter references several Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests you submitted between 22 October 2010 and 17 February 2015 regarding multiple subjects (see attached list). During a recent files audit, we discovered that these cases are still pending processing from our initial backlog. Before we continue processing your requests, we want to establish your continued interest.

Please advise this office within 30 days of the date of this letter of your continued interest. You may advise us by facsimile at 443-479-3612, in writing to National Security Agency, ATTN: FOIA Division (P132), 9800 Savage Road STE 6932, Ft. George G. Meade, MD 20755-6932, or via email at FOIA_DART@nsa.gov. In your reply, inform us of which, if any, of the requests you are still interested in by referencing the Case Numbers in the attached list.
