This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

An index of outstanding debts owed to the United State Naval Academy by former midshipmen who left or were otherwise discharged from the Academy. The existence of these debts has been widely reported in the news media:

The index should include, for each outstanding debt, the amount, its repayment status, and the name of the debtor.

This request is being submitted solely under the Freedom of Information Act, not the Privacy Act. Please redact any information that would require a Privacy Act waiver to release.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
