To Whom It May Concern,
Pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law (1977 N.Y. Laws ch. 933), I
hereby request the following records:
I am a student at Tulane University, writing to you to request public records of phone
calls from passengers in the planes that hit the twin towers on 9/11, 2001. As a
concerned citizen, and one who cares deeply about the historical impact of these tragic
events, I am seeking any recordings you can give me from this tragic day. I understand
that these events are of significant interest and public importance, and the release of
these phone calls would be of great value to researchers, historians, and the general public.
I am aware of the sensitivity of these recordings, and assure you I will handle
them with the utmost discretion and respect. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request
is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of
the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filed
electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to
receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Aurelia Black
