This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:
A copy of the Army’s Personnel Files on Private First Class Robert H. Thomas (August 13, 1926 - February 25, 1985) including performance reports, job assessments, disciplinary records, training received, discharge papers, and any other releasable records.

The public interest in Mr. Thomas should favor disclosure of these records since he went on to become a public figure and held a series of prominent positions in the Church of Scientology (President, Executive Director and US Deputy Guardian) during the 1960-70s. In his earliest national-level role as President, he leveraged his brief stint in the Army at the end of WWII when lobbying for the draft exemption and discharge of active duty service men for ministerial duties on several occasions. Additionally, the requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is not being made for commercial usage.
