To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Documents sufficient to show whether the personal residence and/or office of Donald Trump, within the Manhattan-based "Trump Tower," has a sprinkler system in case of fire. For what it's worth, I would hope it does, but whether it does (or not) as of the date of this request is a matter of newsworthiness to various well-known publications where I am a contributing writer.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Brandon Smith

To clarify a point about the newsworthiness of the request:

I have learned that other units--most if not all--within "Trump Tower" do not have sprinkler systems, because they were not installed upon the initial construction of the building. I am requesting to see whether Donald Trump himself installed one in his unit. If I may add to the request *without* extending your deadline, I would also request documents sufficient to show *when* sprinklers were installed in Donald Trump's unit.

I am a journalist approved to report for many publications including The Guardian and The Washington Post.

Thank you,
Brandon Smith
