To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
In June of 2021 NHTSA issued the Standing General Order 2021-01 (General Order) that required manufacturers of motor vehicles and equipment and operators of motor vehicles to submit incident reports for certain crashes involving Automated Driving Systems (ADS) and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). I am requesting any database maintained by your department of these incident reports with records from January 1, 2019 until today’s date, preferably in .csv or .xlsx format. If such a database is not available, i'd like the raw incident reports and monthly reports submitted to NHTSA from January 2019 until today’s date.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Dhruv Mehrotra
