Communications
From: William Fernandes
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
I was seeking any records of status updates or other communications between the DOJ OPR and NY Judge Alison Nathan pursuant to her order/request in relation to investigation of employee/attorney misconduct.
This story was highly publicized in the news as follows:
'Judge Nathan did not conclude the U.S. attorney's office engaged in intentional wrongdoing, but she has referred lawyers there to the Office of Professional Responsibility at Justice Department headquarters, a unit that investigates attorney misconduct. '
'The Department of Justice’s own internal investigation found that former US Attorney Alex Acosta (Southern District of Florida) exercised “poor judgment” when he gave accused, serial sex offender Jeffrey Epstein a non-prosecution agreement ... only to see Epstein carry on his same horrific actions for years more. The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), the DOJ’s agency for policing prosecutors, found that Acosta had used "poor judgment" when he failed to notify the victims who claimed they were sexually abused by Epstein. Where as it is a disgrace for prosecutors to let some defendants slide with preferential treatment, it equally bad when those charged with enforcing the law overreach to entrap the innocent. Now OPR has another case coming its way ... this one from the Southern District of New York.'
