To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
1. The acknowledgement letters you have sent to FOIA requesters from May 1, 2018, through April 30, 2019. These are the letters that typically begin: "This is to acknowledge receipt of your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request dated XXX in which you requested XXX."
2. Your policies, procedures, directives, guidance, or other such records applicable your use of the following language, or comparable language, in acknowledgement letters, for any part of the time period of May 1, 2018, through April 30, 2019: "Because of these unusual circumstances, we need to extend the time limit to respond to your request beyond the ten additional days provided by the statute."
3. Records sufficient to show, for January 1, 2019, or as close to possible thereof, the job title, operational unit or division, and salary of each DOJ employee, with names and all identifying information redacted. Ideally this would take the form of an Excel spreadsheet with data extracted from a payroll database.
4. Records sufficient to show the amount of money budgeted and spent by DOJ on public relations, policy, or communications each year from 2016 through 2018.
5. Records sufficient to show the amount of money budgeted and spent by DOJ on FOIA compliance each year from 2016 through 2018.
6. Records sufficient to show the amount of money budgeted and spent by DOJ on conferences and travel to conferences for DOJ employees each year from 2016 through 2018.
7. Your requests to Congress or the White House for additional funding for FOIA compliance from January 1, 2016, through the date of search.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
