From: Jimmy Tobias
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
1) Rangeland Information Management System (RIMS) databases relating to tracking grazing management across Forest Service Region 1. I am requesting these in a machine-readable, tabular format such as Excel or CSV. The following data fields are the type of information, although not limited to only these fields, that I am requesting: ranger district, permit ID, permit status, livestock number, head months, animal unit months, livestock kind, range management unit, permittee name, and permittee contact details.
2) The user guide, user manual, or data dictionary relevant to the requested databases.
I am a reporter for High Country News and request a fee waiver. As a representative of the news media all data and information collected in this request will be used to inform the public about the federal grazing program.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Tobias
