To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
From the Human Rights and Special Prosecutions Section (HRSP), formerly the Office of Special Investigations (OSI), please provide copies of the videotaped depositions as referenced in page 546 of the Justice Department's 2006 history, "The Office of Special Investigations: Striving for Accountability in the Aftermath of the Holocaust."
"As noted earlier, American officials made several trips to the U.S.S.R. to seek access to witnesses in Nazi war crimes cases. ... Most importantly, the depositions would be videotaped. If a witness were later unable to travel to the United States to testify, a judge could view the tape to assess witness demeanor and credibility as well as the format of the deposition."
In the event any of this material has been previously processed and released, please provide the preprocessed material prior to any additional processing that might be necessary.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
JPat Brown

Hello, and thank for you reaching out for clarification.
I am still very much interested in processing this request - to narrow the scope, would it be possible to limit the request to the first 10 and the last 10 depositions in your possession, sorted chronologically? We're interested in a general overview of this material rather any one specific tape. Hopefully that helps.
Best,
JPat
