Pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Dear Records Custodian,
I seek records regarding the compensation of Dr. Broderick Turner, assistant professor of marketing at Virginia Tech. Specifically I seek records generated from January 1, 2020 to the present date that provide the following:
-Amounts and terms of Dr. Turner’s annual compensation as a university employee (salary, stipends, etc)
-Amounts and terms of any outside compensation Dr. Turner has disclosed to Virginia Tech pursuant to university policies on outside compensation.
-Any disclosures Dr. Turner has provided to Virginia Tech related to work with Axon Enterprise Inc., in his capacity as a member of Axon’s Ethics and Equity Advisory Council (EEAC), and/or in any other capacity, including amounts of compensation, terms of compensation, and the scope of tasks performed.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Hi, thank you for getting back to me and for providing this salary information.
As for the part of my request that you have denied, I do understand that a variety of different personnel info is not available to the public. As I understand it, though, sometimes information about a public employee's outside compensation can be considered public record when it relates to possible conflicts of interest. I am seeking information about any compensation Dr. Turner earns from Axon Industries, because that company is active in an area that is a frequent subject of Turner's writing and research. I'm not sure if this changes anything, but thought that providing this context might help.
In any case, thanks for your help and your time.
