From: Michael Morisy
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the District of Columbia Freedom of Information Act of 1974, D.C. Code Ann. § 2-531 et seq. ("D.C. Act"), I hereby request the following records:
Summary reports from the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles that include the total number of annual parking tickets issued from 2000 through the most recent reporting date, as well as parking ticket revenue totals taken in by the city during that time period, broken down by wards, districts, police precincts, or neighborhoods.
If summary reports containing the above information are not created, I request copies of any summary reports of parking ticket data that are routinely created for internal use as well as an exported copy of the ticketing database including all fields, such as violation codes, fine total, ticket issuer, issuance location, payment status and other data that are tracked in the database. I request this data going back to 2000 and through the date that this request is received.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 15 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Michael Morisy
