Communications

From: Sonya Rodgers

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to RCW Ch. 42.56 (Public Records Act), I hereby request the following records:

Printed and electronic communications between Department of Natural Resources and Washington Trails Association (wta.org) between September 1, 2010, and August 31, 2011.

I also request that, if possible, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest and not made for commercial gain. The requested documents will be processed by a representative of the news media/press and made available to the public at MuckRock.com. Please fulfill the request electronically, by e-mail attachment if possible or CD-ROM if not, and let me know of any fees that will be assessed.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Sonya Rodgers

Ms. Rodgers:

The Washington State Parks Department public disclosure officer sent me
an email late yesterday telling me of your recent email to her
mentioning that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) had not
replied to a request from you. You requested the same information from
both State Parks and DNR regarding communications with the Washington
Trails Association.

We checked our incoming DNR public disclosure website emails and found
that we received two email records requests from you within a ten minute
period. We replied to your first request but evidently did not realize
that there were two separate requests and did not track the second email
from you as another request.

I apologize for the oversight and any inconvenience that may have caused
you. We will start working on your request for communications between
DNR and Washington Trails Association(wta.org) immediately.

I assume that you are requesting communications to and from the entity
Washington Trails Association, identified by the email wta.org. We will
likely have communications to and from WTA related to projects in all
six of our region locations. I anticipate that it will take 6 to 8 weeks
to contact and identify communications to and from WTA for the period of
time September 1,2010 and August 31, 2011. If we find that it will take
additional time, due to the diverse locations and numbers of staff we
need to contact, I will contact you.

You may contact me by email or at 360-902-1393 if you have questions.

Thank you,
Peggy Murphy
