Dear Ms. Ram:
I acknowledge receipt of your recent public records request received in our office on October 26, 2018. We have assigned this request a tracking number of P-2251. Please refer to this number in all future communications with us about this request. I interpret your request as follows:
1. Any current information and educational materials that are provided/distributed in correctional facilities about housing options available to inmates post-release
2. Any current policies and procedures detailing Department reentry services specific to accessing housing options post-release
3. Any statistical reports detailing admission and release trends from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017
a. All DOC statistical reports are on the Department’s external website and are available to the public: https://www.doc.wa.gov/information/data/analytics.htm . I will consider item #3 of this request to be fulfilled.
4. Any statistical reports detailing recidivism data from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017
a. A statistical report regarding CY2017 recidivism does not exist because the existing schedule for compiling recidivism data requires that a minimum of a full calendar year after the release cohort must conclude (meaning after CY2018 is over, our Data Analytics Unit will be able to create a statistical report regarding 2017’s recidivism)
5. Any statistical reports regarding inmates’ housing status prior to and following commitment to Washington State Department of Corrections from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017
If my interpretation is incorrect please let me know.
For the 1st installment, I’ve gathered 22 pages responsive to items 1 and 2 of your request. These documents are provided to you in accordance with the Public Records Act. By making agency documents available to you, the Department is not responsible for your use of the information or for any claims or liabilities that may result from your use or further dissemination.
